Outdoorgear has long and rich history, spanning over 115 years. Founded by Oswald Bailey back in 1906, the business was very different to what it is today, selling whatever they could to turn a profit. The post war period was particularly profitable, thanks to Oswald's policy of buying all the army surplus equipment he could find: tents, blankets, clothing and boots all sold the moment they appeared in his shops. This also set the foundations of the outdoor company we are today.

With almost 100 years of bricks-and-mortar retailing under our belts, we turned our attention to the then emerging world of online. We launched online in 1999 and were one of the very first outdoor retailers online. Since then we have established ourselves as a market leader in outdoor gear, awarded ‘outstanding’ after more than 12,000 Shopzilla reviews. We stay at the forefront of what’s new for the great outdoors, making sure we stock the right clothing and equipment for every kind of adventure.
